Didn't pull the trigger on the Red GTS, interested in thoughts on going to custom Paint to Sample Color. Know its a personal on color outside and in, cost being a large factor. Has anyone seen this color- Moonlightbluemetallic in the wild? If so how'd it look?

Thanks!

You can see a sample of any color here.

It’s a beautiful color. Had it been an option for the Macan, it would have been my choice. It’s dark enough not to come a cross as ink blue in the sunlight (like midnight blue does). Your call if it’s still on offer as PTS, it’s quite an amount for a color that’s standard with other brands. Elegant it is, no doubt.

I guess it comes down to whether you care about resale. I don’t think you will necessarily recoup much (or any) of the PTS cost.

Look at this PTS Macan GTS — I’ve been tracking it since they put it on the market. Car has full PPF, with an MSRP of $124k, original asking was $95k now dropped to $90k still no takers.

Well, I would not get that car even for $50k if I had to keep that color. Maybe I would pay $50k and spend money wrapping up the entire car. Whomever ordered that car deserves to not sell it.

Most people who buy a paint sample car are looking for something unique in many ways it is one of a kind. On the other hand, what I have found is that it takes away from the car itself and puts a lot of attention on the color. I can think of one guy who posted in a form that the only thing I remember him ever talking about was the color of his car. On the other hand, I know someone whose wife got paint the sample panamera even he wrestled with the expanse on a base car, but she loved that color so much that she had to have it. I would love to order a GT silver Macan but there’s no way I’m going to spend that kind of money on what is typically a common color on other cars, but not available on the Mac. There are those people as well. It’s when the color is either unavailable or discontinued on a car, but yet available on others. . I sometimes say that it’s a lot of money and then talk to guys in Ferrari land we spent $60,000 for a color. Some are even more. I can’t do this comfortably and feel good about it. Maybe a system so traditional with colors that I think I can accept something more basic and be OK with it. The car is that good I even regret spending the $3000. I did to buy chalk, I never loved the color and I feel like I threw out the money and all I was trying to do was do something a little different for a change. To each his own.

I have no idea whether the information is accurate, but a couple of years ago, while designing a Macan S, I was told by a Porsche sales associate that Porsche subcontracts paint to sample jobs - i.e., it is not a Porsche factory work product and falls short in quality compared to the standard colors offered. Again, I'm uncertain as to the veracity of the comment.

I have a Carmine Red Macan GTS; my wife has a Gentian Blue Macan S. We love both colors on the Macan. I also think the silver color is beautiful on a Macan.

Interesting. Not sure that outsourcing the job to subcontractors means lower quality paint but I could be wrong. The guy that did partial PPF on my Macan and ceramic coating on my wife's BMW said the worst cars he gets for paint correction are Ferraris. He said their paint sucks.

It is a stunning color but it sucks that you have to pay that much for it. It reminds me of BMW's carbon black which I had before and it is very hard to keep it without swirls and marks.

Also, why didn't you select Premium Package Plus?

I just left the dealer and they have a black 2026 Macan GTS coming in that is available if anyone is looking for a 2026 GTS. Ask for Mike Billings at Porsche of Tyson’s in Vienna Va. I have the build sheet if anyone wants it. I haven’t posted the build sheet because not sure if I am allowed and don’t want to hijack this thread. I have no affiliation or get no money if someone buys it, just trying to help out a good Porsche sales guy who is great to work with. I have purchased 4 Macan from him in the past.
