Trim:
GTS
Year:
2025
Long-time BMW owner. Time to buy a new car and don't love the BMW options. Test drove the Macan GTS and fell in love. Perfect for what I need. Will be my first Porsche. Building Porsche is difficult for indecisive buyers so looking for help.

Here is what I have so far.

Code: PSDUV963

-Color: Sticking with Jet Black or Silver. Think black is classic look so leaning with that.

- Prefer the GT wheels but can't get satin black without race-tex seats which I don't want. Thinking of the platinum wheels but not sure how those with look with jet black (any pics?)

- Prefer black interior and want the stitching but not sure what color stitching. Chalk or blue. Don't like red for this car. Is blue too much? how about seat belts?

- Calipers - I think the red takes away from classy look of this build. Not sure why black calipers are so much but thinking of getting those. Too plain? Would it be odd if I got red calipers and blue stitching?

-Race-Tex - Roof lining. Looks fancy but expensive options. Splurge worth it?

Did I miss any must haves? I am confused and excited at the same time.

It’s almost perfect. By the way, I happen to light the GTS interior package with the exception of the steering wheel, but if you’re in favor of full leather, that’s just fine. I’ve had both. The platinum satin GT design wheels look spectacular on jet black metallic. I have a picture I will put it up at the end of the post. It was a from member’s car that caught my eye that I really liked. The roof liner is not a mandatory thing, but it is very beautiful. It depends how long you plan on keeping the car. If this is a forever car then I’d get it. I would consider adding PTV pay of course it’s not mandatory but it’s a nice feature. I’m with you on the calipers in black. I like the build.

One last thing- I see that you put a tow hitch. Do you absolutely need this? Have you looked into stealth hitches? I asked those questions because I bought two cars off the dealership lot that had the hitch. And I absolutely hated it.. for starters. I will never tell anything on a PDK car.. I don’t have anything to tow anyway.. the second reason is, I think it looks ugly as heck. It ruins the whole rear end design of the car. I had both of those cars for two years and every time I looked at it, I wanted to bite the thing off. I’m not kidding. It bothered me. If however, this is a must have for you then get it, but you have been given the heads up.

Just for a counterpoint... I have a 2923 GTS with the tow hitch and whether I use it or not (I do use it with a 1Up Bike Rack), don't think it detracts from the look even one iota. Personal opinion of course but the OEM hitch is a reasonably priced option. Trying to add a hitch aftermarket can get quite expensive.
You are correct that if you need a tow hitch, you better get it from factory. I don't need it, never did and don't plan to use it in the future. However, we got a BMW X7 for my wife and the car came with the hitch from factory. I hated it but learned a lot about it. It was way cheaper and much better quality and set up than getting something in the market later. Also, the factory installed hitch could not be installed by a BMW dealer afterwards. Apparently, it was the real deal. We then sold that car and ordered a new one which I did not include the hitch. The rear of the car looks much cleaner (no cut on the rear bumper) and I get the option to wave my foot under the bumper to open and close the trunk. That option is not offered if you order the hitch. Now for the Macan, not sure how that works but I would not order one as I don't use it.

A few omissions to point out:

Red Calipers Standard - personal preference a Porsche GTS thing, but I understand that you want a totally blacked out look.

Stitching - I think Chalk goes well with the interior as it has other silver tones. I do not see Blue fitting with anything GTS theme.

PTV+ highly recommend for the GTS

Electric Steering Column became an option due to chip shortage, so if you want your steering wheel to move for comfort entry or adjust to memory seating position, you need this. We could not option it on ours as chips were not available and the manual is awful with multiple driver use.

Surround View is personal preference but be aware that Porsche cameras are really bad since you are coming from BMW and this is the only way to make it better.

LKA with Traffic Jam is for stop and go low speed driving as many assume these features are standard on modern cars, but not on a Porsche. Standard equipment is called LDW (Lane Departure Warning) which is just a buzzer when you get close to the lanes.

Thermal Glass - consider weighing pros and cons. I like it for the thickness and look and it does not detract from hearing the exhaust sound.

Ionizer makes your cabin filter work more efficiently.

Other things not shown on the configurator and are easy mods after delivery (you can PM me if you would like to get it done, I have full thread on how to DYI both):

Orange Front Side Markers - just ugly so replace them with smoke or clear.

Puddle Lights - bottom of each door has year 2014 halogen yellow bulbs so it is easy to replace them with LED kind with different projection options for a fraction of the OEM option.

Footwells and Trunk LEDs - very dim and I have not replaced them but there are options to simply put more powerful LED bulbs to make things brighter if needed.

I forgot about the electric steering column. It used to be included until they decide to make it an option after the supply shortage. I have one Macan without it. I have the other, which has the option. I know there was a member who was disabled who felt it was a dealbreaker in his case to not have the column move back, but I’m not really that hot and bothered by not having it. The only time it bothers me is if my detailer moves it while cleaning my car. Then my neurosis kick in trying to find where I had it.

Surround view is another option where I have one Macan currently with it and the other does not have it. It’s a nice option, but it’s expensive. I really feel it should be standard. On the car, which doesn’t have it I have yet to curb a wheel or damage anything while backing into tight areas. Plus, I have an extra money in my pocket.

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback.

Switching to Chalk. Makes sense with overall look of the car.

Don't care about steering column. Its a set it and forget thing for me. Although I do find it outrageous that they charge for it on a $100k car.

Agree on the orange side light. I also have a Jeep Wrangler and did the same thing on that car.

No to Lane Keep Assist even if I can turn it off. Won't use it.

Need to think about PTV+ and thermal glass. Price starts to get up there in a hurry. I suppose I could trade RaceTex roof liner for PTV+ but I live in South Florida so no snow and I am not tracking car. Will I even notice the PTV+.?

So many decisions...

I have chalk. I’ve also had three jet black metallic. I have a picture of chalk with the platinum satin wheels by the way. They were not available when I got my car, but my friend Roger, who also is a member here that doesn’t post as much has it. I’ll put a picture of both our cars so you see the difference. Both of us have black calipers. PS my picture has the orange lights, but they are clear now.

I originally wanted the platinum satin wheels, but they did not have them as there was a stop sale. I went with the standard RS, but they were my second choice. Here is my build code. Macan GTS | Porsche Car Configurator

Maybe I wasn't clear. I meant I would be switching to chalk stitch not exterior. Still sticking with Jet Black most likely.

PSCC42H7
It’s perfect. By the way, I have chalk, but I prefer jet black metallic. The only reason why I have chalk is because I had three jet black metallic in a row and I kept feeling like I wasn’t getting a new car. I felt that if I got a different color, it would feel like a different car. Silly me, I prefer your car more. I’m not suffering though, but I do miss it with the exception of July and August when it’s really hot and humid here.

You’re set . Now it’s just a waiting game until it locks and then gets here. Make sure you get those changes to your sales person because it’s not uncommon for a car to lock a bit early.

Waiting begins...placed my order today. Delivery in late March.

Build Code: PSRZHF37

I decided against PVT+ and thermal glass. Included white dials but still deciding on that. Build won't lock for a few weeks.

Any thoughts on white dials, including SC. Seems to add nice contrast with all black interior with chalk stitching.

#24 ·
I have white dials on my CPO car. I also have them on my older 911 because they were standard on the turbo at that time. They’re OK, but I actually prefer the standard dials . They’re a little bit to Mercedes-Benz like to me. They are nice and I’m not complaining enough to change them, but I probably wouldn’t order them. That’s just personal taste though.

Over the years I’ve seen dials in multiple colors. Have you even seen them in green. The only color that I absolutely hate to the point where I couldn’t live with it is yellow. Even worse is with yellow stitching and yellow dials. I find that hideous.

Love my white dials 🥰

Jet Black 2023 GTS. OE spider design wheels (no extra charge). Have red calipers, would have preferred black on hindsight. Tint on front windows color matched to the rest of the glass. Insulated glass which I love. Swapped front marker lights to smoke. Black intercooler grill guards. Roar Pedal. You should reconsider and add PTV.

^ PTV+ and Thermal Glass over dials all day long.

I've owned seven Porsche's one was a Cayenne GTS. I like the Macan a lot. All the others are/were sports cars. I did get to drive a BMW X5 Turbo about a year ago and that thing was fast. I didn't get to test the handling but the steering felt really good.

Nothing from BMW I like.. old 5 series was nice when it was smaller. Now it is a boat and drives like one. 3 series is nice but everyone has one. Was going to get m4 but not really practical as a daily driver. New x3 is terrible. Just plain ugly. x5 is nice but much bigger than I need. I have my Jeep wrangler to haul stuff when needed but definitely don't drive that one on long drives or highway. Fun car but not a good car.

I would not buy the GTS w/o PTV. It's a small add to the price and not something you can retrofit. Do more research rather than listen to the sales department to make sure you don't want to spend a little over $1,000 for the option when you are buying the highest performance Macan they make... Here's a pic where you can see the smoke marker and grill. These are inexpensive and easy to install.
Image

The side marker is from Flat6 and the black grille guard is from Radiator Grille Store, the upper pic did not have the black grille yet. You will enjoy the Macan. It's a versatile ride that's actually fun to drive.

I love the build, but If you are considering Silver PSDUV963. I bought a 23’ Silver GTS CPO, it had black spider wheels, I am partial to the 911 Turbo wheels. I don’t see that combo much on the east coast. I am waiting for the summer to get them.

I've been obsessed with the configurator since I ordered the car. Frankly, I can't wait for my lock date in two weeks. Changed color configuration after going to dealer and looking at colors some more. I think I am almost there. VG with black interior, red calipers and GT satin wheels. Still need to decide on surround view and PTV although leaning to NO on both. I am really pushing limits on price, not that I can't afford the few thousand $$ extra but just feel that is a ton of money on car. Looked around for used but I don't buy cars often and I tend to keep my cars for 8-10 years so I am going to buy exactly what I want.

@flatout18 Just stopping by as an old member who still dreams about my 2022 Macan GTS custom order (had to trade it for an Escalade Diesel to chauffeur the fam—rough life, I know). How are you holding up waiting for your beauty? The days must feel like years! Remember, no amount of sleep will make it come faster, and bugging your salesman only works until they start ghosting you. 😂
