Rock chips on rear door

Hey guys,

My new Macan should be arriving in a month or so and I'm planning on which areas I need to get PPF. I've read that the rock chips on the rear doors can be pretty bad. I'd prefer not to wrap the whole door if it doesn't need it.

For those of you that don't have PPF, are you getting rock chips above the blue line that I have shown below? if so, roughly how high?

Xpel sells a precut PPF kit that will cover this area if its below that body line which is why I ask.

even though i have full ppf on my 23 S

but you can skip...Roof, body paner from rear. both sides.

Rest i can tell ya paint is too soft and you will see scratches..

I wont skip truck let me tell you why.. This car is aerodynamic like crazy and your trunk will get so dirty and dirt= scratches

We have front bumper, hood (one sheet), fenders, strip just above the windshield, rear doors below the blue line, trunk threshold on the rear bumper. Our guy cuts his own, doesn't use pre-cut. And also windshield protection film. About $2600

Rock chips from tires above that area would be pretty unlikely. I once shredded my rocker panel (gravel at 65mph) and the spots that took the majority of the damage were the rocker and the flare near the rear wheel well. A couple small scuffs in the bottom edge of the door and side blade. Nothing got above the top of the side blade. Take a look at the Porsche extended ones, they go flush with the top of the side blade on the flare out then run the full length under the side blade.

Add mud flaps to your thinking.
Point of impact - so for sure entire frontal - front bumper, front lowers, front behind front tire, side mirrors. Thats what I have - I will be doing the back as I have noticed points of possible wear near tailgate area, etc. The area you mentioned is least on the list in my view.
Xpel has the rear impact larger cut and the one that goes across around the side blades

Im debating which one to do atm because those fat 20" tires kick up stuff there and I dont want any more knicks there
Appreciate the comments everybody!
My 2017 hasn't picked up any chips in those areas, but then I don't drive through gravel either...
I have ppf on my nose and it’s held up well, also never see any chips in those areas as airhead says. Surprisingly because it’s a pretty wide flare. Maybe the height helps. It’s a common area in widebody 911s

I did the entire rear door. After 18000km the ppf below the line looks lightly sand blasted. I have two small pits above the line. Results will vary based on road conditions. For reference, the entire front of the car is still like new.
