Ttmacan , I have never checked those before. Did you need to drop the lower front cover for access ?
Any pics ?
Thanks !

Lower cover and the small triangle cover covering the corner of the bumper directly below the intercooler. I did this a while ago sorry no pics.

Hmm, sounds worthy of a crawl under to check that some day.

Did you have to remove the whole lower cover to get to the smaller one ?
Thx

You have a boost leak most likely and the turbos are spooling with no pressure build up. You could damage the turbos! On mine it was the drivers side lower intercooler hose that popped off. Hose had a nub on the connector that was worn. They usually drain this pipe of oil during an oil change to empty any blow by. For me I pushed the pipe on again and was able to limp it around without getting into boost until I was able to install the new hose.
Never saw this servicing procedure mentioned before on our forum?

Yeap neither did I. Read it on the cayenne forum when diagnosing that issue I had with the intercooler pipe popping off. It’s pretty common for an intercooler to have oil in them and oil in the intake tract - the valve cover breathers route back into the intake. So disconnecting the lower intercooler hose and draining anything is a good thing to do once in a while. The Cobb tune increases psi as well so if any intake boot or piping is loose it’s going to pop it off. In my case it was the lower hose.

Do you think if off road mode was activated via the air suspension switch , there would be enough clearance to fold down the front cover for access ? Anyone know how long the car would stay in off road mode, whilst shut down ? I would think not long.......hehe

You need to disable the self leveling before getting underneath by pressing and holding the low button until the message appears and it will stay that high. But not recommend to crawl underneath unless jack stands or support is placed under. But if your just in the front you wouldn’t really have to crawl under it, just your arms.

Reduced Engine Power Message

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thank you. Even though this is an old thread, I found it to be very valuable in resolving an issue I recently experienced. I was driving my '18 Turbo PP in a 'spirited fashion' last week, and then got the "reduced engine power" message. It seemed to be driving okay with no obvious reduction in power, but I pulled over, and shut the car off. Restarted and the message went away.

But I brought the car in to the dealership to look at - with this thread printed out. The SA confirmed the recorded fault and found that the throttle body boot was indeed loose. They completely removed it, inspected it for damage. None found, and reinstalled and tightened things down.

The car seems much more responsive though.

Back in the shop for the "engine fault, reduced power consult workshop driving permitted" message. This time it is ostensibly a throttle body failure. Will keep you posted but not at all happy.

How were you able to tell if it was a throttle body failure? I'm going through this whole boost leak thing myself right now. Trying to track it down...

Restarting the 2015 Black turbo boost post!

..And I just had the ‘message’ this morning.
Mines a 2015 build Turbo with only 54k kms. Fsh.
I selected Sport plus and was sitting at 3k revs, 40kmh ready to go (!) when the reduced power message came up..😳😳😳.
whoa, straight back into normal mode and cruised around the corner.
Switched off, restarted and all seemed ok.🤷

After reading through this forum Ive just been out and flogged the car to death in Normal, sport and sport plus. Hitting 16-17psi easily.
I wanted it to happen again so I could watch the boost pressures..
and absolutely nothing wrong with my car..(atm🙏🏻)

if it was a leak surely it would have occurred again whilst doing this. So points towards software perhaps..?

Now I’m just waiting for it to happen again.😩

So I rang the dealer tech on Monday and she said if it happens again -please bring it in w/o switching off so we can read the fault. She’s never heard of this error..(13 pages alone on this forum😳).
I replied that it happened on a Saturday , are you open on a Saturday … ‘no ‘. 🤷🏻
Anyway, went to get the Saturday papers again this morning, waited until everything was nice and warm then selected ‘sport plus’ and guess what happened when I accelerated.….REDUCED POWER, DRIVE TO DEALER🤬
Pulled over, switched off and back on and everything is fine….🙈
…so I’ll have to try and replicate this during the working week, drive to the dealer and leave it ticking over while I search for the service tech manager.
-this is going to be fun.

Part 3…couldn’t wait for this to happen again so I went to the main dealer today and they read the error logs whilst I waited👍

Boost pressure control deviation.

…possible causes = lots of things🙈…vacuum leaks, diverter valves, Turbo’s, wastegates etc etc.(even something called an acoustic simulator)
Car is booked next week for a look!
2 days + (so glad it’s still under under Porsche warranty.)🤞🏻
