Are Rennline's grills basically powdercoated stucco mesh? I'd prefer some kind of plastic instead. The powdercoating will still get chipped up over time exposing the shiny aluminum mesh.

Yup. For what they are....also, they STILL seem exceedingly pricey...

True. Too bad they don't come in black so I guess the bulk of the cost is in powder coating. I guess you can always get a cheap powder coating setup from Harbor Freight and make as many of these as you want, and cheaply, when they get dinged up.You can always go to Home Depot and get a mesh and trim it to fit. No rocket science here.
Different mesh patternHere's the link for Home Depot chicken wire; looks like the shortest length available is 25' -- enough so that if you screw up installation the first time or five, there would be plenty left. Looks to be a quality product
