Who remembers Slug-Bug??? Every time you see a VW beetle you punch your buddy in the arm “ ooouch! 😄
So I’m taking a mini Staycation out her in Santa Barbara a few blocks away from the beach and all the lovely shops, restaurants and art shows. Very cool vibe from this town I must say. So while out here for the weekend, I CANNOT STOP SEEING MACANS!!!! This place is loaded with them! I WAS WHIPPING MY NECK LEFT & RIGHT. I seriously could not stop spotting them. I could punch my friend at least 20+++ times! So awesome to see this many Macan’s in this area. I’ve seen mostly Base models and sprinkled in S & 1 turbo. I really wonder why this car is so popular in this area??? Anyone from around here know any insights?
the nick name of Santa Barbara is called the “ AMERICAN RIVIERA “ due to the beach & mountains. yes I know the area is affluent.
could it be because the people here are environmentally conscious, accepting left leaning city??? Thoughts?

I used to go to Santa Barbara often . Back in the 90's there was some daytime soap opera that I believe attracted even more people to the area . The hotel called Four Seasons Biltmore is gorgeous and myself being a swimmer felt that the Coral Casino club had one of the most beautiful pools . They specifically designed it to be 51 meters which is 1 meter above Olympic size so that no competitive events would be held . For that reason it was empty and gorgeous.

You have the busy area with all the shops but at the hotel the back area is Monteceito . It's where Michael Jackson and quite a few celebs lived at the time . It was perfect combination of quiet and active . That hotel BTW used to have a buffet one night a week that unreal !!! It'd very scenic and a nice place to eat even if not a buffet (now with Covid and such). Remember when Kim Kardashian got married for 70 days or so? It was at that hotel .

The cars are is similar to Miami . I am so accustomed to the nice cars yet I was always driving a rental out there . One thing I did do was rent a mountain bike and went riding into the mountain trails . Florida is so flat that I had a lot of fun.

The ocean sucks though . That Pacific Ocean is cold. In fact I noticed that California swimmers were so used to the cold water that they even kept their pools lower temp.

You'll have fun there . I don't know if you are from there but So Cal is a happening spot when things are a bit more normalized . I miss it !!

Enjoy the trip !!!
Awesome info! I didn’t know there’s so much history here. If I had more time out here I’d definitely check out the iconic places. Summer time is coming soon and a nice pool & swim sounds like a blast. I did some local wine tasting and restaurants beachside which is nice. Heading back to Orange County today. I’ll keep my eyes open on the road for some more Macan!
