Got ppf done on my console.. worked fine for a week and now gone..
Since it was dealership who were doing it, so they covered it.
So ppf on macan console is risky.. only right way of doing is taking of console, taking pastic parts off.. ppf and then put it back on..
Otherwise no matter how careful you are water will go in system and it will be just matter of time when it boom goes off.. cost of console is 4kcad plus hst plus 4 to 5 hours labour

So let me get this straight...

You took delivery of your car 1 week ago.
The dealer offered to PPF the center console and when installing the PPF, moisture/water got into your center console, caused a short and the entire console stopped working & needs to be replaced?

Wow.

Has this happened to anyone else whereby the entire console needed to be replaced due to a short from moisture/water from a PPF install?

I would assume since dealership did the work, this will be covered under warranty...
However, if this was done by an outside local shop (or even yourself) Im not sure if they would cover it or not.

Either way, what a bummer. Sorry to hear that.

Sorry to hear it. I understand there is some risk. A number of owners seem to have had PPF professionally applied to the center console without issue. I DIYd PPF to my console and placed terrycloth towels near the edges to try to catch runoff. The console is fine, but I do have to live with a few trapped dust particles. I’m okay with it.

I'm loving my buttons more every day. They represent how over eager engineers can screw up anything. On the Macan they started with the rear of the car design. Next up, they screwed up the front design. Now, like chipmunks, they are eating up the interior. What was a great car design initially now has become more like a Toyota.

Absolutely agree. I prefer my interior to look more car-like than a mobile device. I have an iPad and iPhone for the latter.

Agree 100%. Physical buttons provide a more ergonomic experience IMO. A great example of taking digital way too far is Tesla. Activating wipers should be an instantaneous task that does not require visual distraction.

I was hesitant to get the haptic buttons when trading my 20 Macan 'for a 22.. I wouldn’t want to go back after living with the new console. Much more modern looking

I had my installer install the ppf without issue. He’s done lots and told me you just have to use minimal water.

Yes theres someone else on here who had the same thing happen - that experience and this one right here will make me NOT do it - as tempting as it is. Cheers.

I bought a 2021 to avoid this exact problem. Physical buttons and switches rule and at this price level you're more than paying for them!
You bought a '2021' to avoid 'haptic buttons' instead of getting a 2022/23 w/ an updated center console and pretty nice HP bump?
