I received a code from Porsche Canada to get Porsche Connect services. Set up account…shows my VIN and services activated but I cant connect to the services in the PCM. It says data connection not available. I called a Porsche Canada and they confirmed I have a build in SIM and gave me an IMEI # and said Porsche dealer needs to activate the sim. Took vehicle in for service (Pfaff in Vaughn) and they activated Porsche Car Connect which seems pretty useless IMO but that is different than Porsche Connect which gives weather, news, internet radio… but that still doesn’t work. Dealer cant seem to help..
Can anyone confirm that a 2021 Macan comes with an activated internal sim to connect to Porsche Connect or do you have to get a plan yourself in order to use the services.
Any help /advice much appreciated.

In the USA you get the first year of Porsche Connect for free. Worked fine for the first year then you get a message that your free year has expired and it’s $205 to renew for another year. Don’t know how Canada works.

I have a 2020 Macan GTS, I dont think the dealer will provide you with a built-in sim card. You need to either buy a sim card from roger, telus or etc OR open your personal hotspot from your phone. Once the PCM connects to your phone's internet, you should have access to its services such as real times traffic, weather, news and gas stations. Hope this will help.

My 2022 Macan does not seem to have SIM card either. All what we could do is to connect it with mobile hotspot.

Yip mine also didn’t come with a slot for sim card. It may have an inbuilt sim which I saw a sim code for while playing withthe PCM the other day. Not a biggie as Porsche Connect provides very limited services - in Australia in any case.

I saw the SIM code too, and it seems my car could be a wifi hotspot for my other devices. However, in the connection manager, I could not see “integrated SIM card” as what the US market has. So I have no way to connect to internet.

Today, I found the SIM card slot in the glove box, beside the SD card slot and inserted my data only SIM card for my phone service provider. It worked.

I am confused, does the car come with an integrated SIM card or not!

Mine doesn’t have a sim or SD card slot. It appears a bit random as to which Gen 3’s have those.

I entered in the pairing code as I did not have one when I picked up the car. I had registered but just had not been sent the code yet. So could not set up on delivery. Audio equipment Font Circle Technology Astronomical object

So now downloaded all of this, registered with Vodaphone and got some other code.

But still having issues getting the traffic updates, weather, stuff like that.

Anyone know if there is a built in SIM card in our cars? I tried the cell phone hotspot and the car seems to forget the password for it every time I shut off the car.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I just spoke to Porsche Canada about this 10 minutes ago, as it's a very frustrating situation. I was told that to get any use of the services you need a data connection. Therefore you need a SIM card to put in the the PCM as the "hotspot" for connection. I will try this and let you know.

The only way I was able to have the vehicle connect to services was using my phones hotspot

I purchased a SIM card data only from Rogers (Canada) to share my data plan. I out it in the car and it works with whatever Canadian services are provided. Note it takes the full size SIM card so don’t discard the perimeter
