Got a check engine light and MFD message "Engine Control Fault, consult a workshop, driving permitted".

Let it go through a few OBDII drive cycles to see if the light shut off, but it never did.

According to my OBD scanner, the trouble code is "0071 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Range/Performance".

I cleared the codes and will see if the if the check engine light returns, but meanwhile anyone ever see this before? Don't recall anyone mentioning it before, and a search of the forum yielded nothing. No doubt it will be repaired under warranty, but what was the fix?

Thanks in advance.

I cleared the OBD codes, and thus far the light has not come back on. But I have driven the car only one OBD drive cycle.

The check engine light never re-appeared after at least 1/2 dozen drive cycles.

Had the same issue last year with my macan. The dealer replaced the temperature sensor near the radiator under warranty. Oddly enough, when that error message on MFD appeared, engine auto start/stop function was disabled as well
