I'm up in Northern California but will go 500 miles if good deals to be had.

I think you'll have much greater inventory and better pricing (more competition) if you shop the LA and Orange County dealers. Do an inventory search on their sites and see who has a big stock. If you want to try locally first, try Brett Payne at Sonnen Porsche (Porsche of Marin). They have a big sale going on to clear out 2017s, and he has always been really good to work with. Won't have near the inventory of the bigger SoCal dealers though. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.

Porsche Newport Beach has a good inventory, last I saw. I can't say what kind of deal you might expect to get on a lot car from them, though. I went to Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas, which is 500 miles from you. Contact Paul Jarrett. He'll treat you great and you should get a a good deal.

TL;DR version - McKenna bad, Rusnak ok

SoCal buying story, adding to the experiences here... wasted my time at McKenna Porsche in Norwalk - dealt with salesperson and manager for about 2 weeks working through remaining MY 2017 stock options and told them several times on the phone and via email what I was expecting in terms of discount and was told it would be ok... finally got to the point where I went to the dealer (about 30 miles away from me), they gave me pennies for the trade and then flaked on the MSRP discount - first only $1000 off, then 3.5%. What happened to the 7% we agreed to on the phone, I asked? Oh the color combo I wanted was the "most sought after" so they could not discount more. Ok, if you insist!

I walked out of dealer and later that afternoon placed a custom order for a MY 2018 from Rusnak Pasadena at a 6.5% discount.

Hope the McKenna folks read this thread.

Hey folks! I'm pricing a new 2019 build, Config Code: PKAAVTR1, with EU Leipzig delivery. Best I've seen so far is 2.5% off MSRP with EU delivery included. I was told dealers now have to pay $2,500 to Porsche for EU delivery, which adds another 3.9% discount. So looking at about 6.4% total discount.

Purchased!

Hello All,

I purchased a 2017 Macan Base at the end of last month. Here are the details:

Volcano Grey Metallic
Leather Package in Black
1D6 - Trailer Hitch Without Tow Ball
1NP - Wheel Center Caps With Colored Porsche Crest
2H - Volcano Grey Metallic
2ZH - Steering Wheel Heating
3FU - Panoramic Roof System
3L4 - Driver Memory Package
3S5 - Roof Rails In Black
4F6 - Porsche Entry & Drive
7Y7 - Lane Change Assist (LCA)
9JB - Smoking Package
C6X - 19" Macan Design Wheels
IU1 - Porsche Connect
PJ5 - Premium Package
QJ4 - Window Trim In Black (High-Gloss)
VF - Leather Package In Black

Was originally going in for a similar certified pre-owned but when we arrived it was sold. Was immediately told what was going on, salesmen had another CPO with less options than I wanted and had a new model with all the options I wanted. I was discouraged until I was told "you can have it for cost"! That got my attention for sure. Long story short, purchased it for about 10% off MSRP which equaled there invoice. Purchased the last day of June (last day of 2nd quarter) at Porsche of Silver Spring Maryland from the most professional salesman I have ever dealt with, Xeni (pronouned Zen-ee) Deshishku.

MSRP = $61,655
Paid $55,489.50

Thanks and I really enjoy this forum!
Sounds like you had an awesome deal and experience but I myself would still take "you can have it at cost" with a grain of salt.

Just curious, why you all are using MSRP as a bases for % discount instead of invoice? I mean I know invoice is fictitious as no one really knows the actual number given all the different incentives that can be going on at any given time but it's a lower number than MSRP.

As you note, what may be available as an “invoice” price these days isn’t necessarily reflective of what the dealer’s actual cost is, so does it really matter? Buying a Porsche isn’t like most automobiles in that the factory option list is nearly endless... and markup on options isn’t consistent. People spec their builds and share the code. The MSRP is clearly and universally (within each country anyway) available, so why not discuss discounts against this straightforward starting point?

What discounts are you guys getting on the new 2022 Macan S if any? I’m in AZ but would be willing to go to SoCal or Las Vegas for a better deal. Historically what’s a good discount on a
  • new build S
  • in stock newest year (e.g. 2022)
  • demo newest year (e.g. 2022)
  • demo previous year (2021)

I haven't really been in the market since buying a 2020 Macan S (2 years ago) but all indications are that it is near impossible to get any discounts these days. With the chip shortages, and any other supply chain issues, dealers can sell any vehicles they have slots for. So no reason to discount anything. Many are even selling for above MSRP. It's a seller's market for sure. The only saving grace is that pre-owned are also up drastically so if you are getting rid of a car, you can get more for it. One last thing, it may be additionally difficult to buy out of your area because the dealership knows you won't be servicing the car with them. They may try and sell to locals so they can pick up service dept. business too.

I configured a new Macan Base for June delivery and my NY dealer is saying that the current pricing is $3,000 over MSRP but, since I am a repeat customer, they will cut it to $1,500. Does this ring right with everyone? Thank you for your responses.

Try a different dealer. You should be able to get a base without paying a dealer markup. The dealer is being greedy and doesn’t seem to actually care that you are a repeat customer.

I didnt configure one, but purchased an in stock macan S for MSRP. I think it certainly can be had now. appears that the market is softening. I was looking at a few other vehicles that started at 5k over msrp and they eventually went down to MSRP as well.

After the Felicity Ace fiasco I wouldn't count on any softening on the part of dealer prices in the US.
