Hope I'm not jinxing myself by writing this...mine worked great for 2-3 months after driving off the lot, then it just went kaput and would rarely connect wirelessly (wired always worked IIRC). Saw a post somewhere talking about how iOs updates could "break" the pairing, I did have an update somewhere in that timeframe, so I completely unlinked/deleted the phones from the car and started from scratch, and its been working fine ever since. Where's that fingers-crossed icon? An iphone 6 and 11 in my case, fwiw. Good luck.

Has anyone been able to use an iphone for Apple Car Play and an Android for phone calls and texts?

Yes... I get a notice I have an incoming text and it will read it to me, then ask if I want to reply. If yes, will take down voice response and send it. Neat.
