I just had my 60k km / 4 year servicing done at Porsche. $1600 CDN half of which was parts. I was Ok with this. The Macan has been rock solid reliable in 4 years.
I had the 40000 mile 4 year service done with Porsche and the cost was around $1100.00. Get pricing before you set the appointment but any indie will definitely be lower cost.
I thought the Q5 uses a torque converter transmission, and is not at all related to the PDK in the Macan, but that the Macan PDK is identical to the dual clutch transmission used in some other Audi models. Am I incorrect?
Right, but you mentioned it was more similar to a Q5. Does a Q5 even have a dual clutch transmission? I don’t believe that is correct. I thought Audi calls their dual clutch transmissions S-tronics, and when Porsche installs those transmissions in the Macan they call it a PDK, similar to what general motors used to do… when installed in Oldsmobiles, they termed their (Chevrolet) Powerglide transmission as a Jetaway instead. I know I am dating myself.
Sorry, I was not clear. I meant the PDK fluid change on the Macan is similar to the procedure on other regular auto transmissions, not like the PDK on the 911, which uses 2 different types of fluid.
In fact, it is basically the same as the ZF transmission fluid change on my 15-yr old E46 BMW. LOL
The macan also uses two different types of fluids. One is the clutch and the other is gearbox+front differential.
My brother has an SQ5 which is a straight up 8 speed automatic. The macan does have an Audi sourced dual clutch sequential gearbox which could happily live as either a manual or computer controlled transmission. No torque converter, which is a huge difference.
I do agree that the fluid change procedure for the clutch is not unlike the Aisin 6 speed automatic found in my 955 Cayenne, but the macan transmission is drain and fill like any gear box
