thanks. I figured it out. It's a loose power module from the Uniden R7.

How sure are you that's for the R7? I've never seen anything like that in a radar hardwire. Looks like a cellular-based tracking puck to me ¯\(ツ)/¯

Unfortunately, I don't think so. No radar detector needs a power module like that. Page 6 here tells you what comes with the Uniden R7 and there's nothing that looks like that. https://www.uniden.info/download/ompdf/R7om.pdf

Side note — No matter what this module is, the installer needs to understand how big of a safety issue this could have been if it had fallen behind or on top of the brake pedal while driving. Eek.
