IHS Automotive expects Porsche to reach its goal of 200,000 vehicle sales each year four years ahead of time. This forecast is in large part due to the expected release of the 2014 Porsche Macan. IHS expects the Porsche Macan to sell 63,000 units in its first year. That amount of sales would make the Macan the best-selling vehicle in Porsche's line-up, surpassing the Cayenne.

Porsche sales and marketing chief Bernhard Maier thinks differently though. He says that IHS's forecast is too high. According to him, Porsche will not even offer that many Macans in its first year as the company continues to ramp up production.

Nevertheless, the Macan is going to be a hit, and it is going to be Porsche's cheapest offering. So I guess I'll be seeing even more of the Macan on the road that I do the cayenne now. Perfect.

It is amazing that Porsche will reach its goal of 200,000 vehicles per year for years ahead of time. I wonder what the new goal will be. 300,000? 350,000? Taking over the world???
