I recently purchased a 2020 Macan S. I am having significant trouble with Porsche Connect. Here is what I am experiencing, is there something I am doing wrong?

- Every time I start the car I have to re-enter my Porsche ID even though I always save it to not require manual log in. I have also tried having it recognize my phone, but that still causes the same problem

- My real time traffic is not working. Even when I am connected with my Porsche ID the screen say "Porsche Connect not available". I am still in my free trial period and have already purchased the full year package.

- Apple car play loads on a random basis. When I go to devices and select the link icon it will connect, but kick out my Porsche ID, is that normal?

would love it if anyone has answers.

Thanks!

I would suggest a quick trip to your dealer for them to look at it. I know back in 2018 when I got my car at PEC my coach/delivery specialist helped me get it set up on my phone, then when I was driving around on the track the guys in service did something to set it up for me and I didn't have any problems. I hope that this makes sense. I am sure things have probably changed since 2018 to 2020, but your dealer is a great first step. Or have you tried calling them on the phone and asking them about it.

I was having similar problems, you can also try just calling up Porsche Connect directly and they'll walk you through fixing it. On the phone mine finally got activated and mostly working, but no real time traffic and other error problems. They though maybe a bad sim card, so mailed me one. But in the meantime I discovered that my online account needed to be setup correctly, and I logged into it online without any issues a few times, the car's Connect all came to life and everything worked.

Thanks for the input, I will give them a call on Monday.

Yes. I tried my sales person who referred me to Service. They fixed an initial problem, but took a week. I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but I am going to have to call the dealer again. I had and a 2017 Boxster S with no issues, but the "system" is totally new for 2020.

@nbailey2020, same issues with Porsche Connect (although it is a Cayenne) and fighting with them for 2 months since getting the new car. I agree with @SportDesign that first your online account has to be setup correctly (my dealer set it up wrong) otherwise do not waste your time troubleshooting the Porsche ID issues in the car.
The correct setup means that your VIN is registered in their system and the car is visible to the Porsche Connect website/app (they work differently in my experience where the app is better). Then you go down the road trying for the Porsche ID to to stick for more than a day since PCM would unlink it and unregister it after 24-48 hours which is what you are describing and as a result you will not see real time traffic or Favorite Nav destinations if you entered them in Porsche Connect webiste/app.
I had to go back and forth between the dealer and Porsche Connect call center with each one telling a different way to link it in the PCM. The call center says do it as "Manual with No Code" but dealer called some mystery center and they said only "Phone Option" will work. Cayenne has an additional option not available on the Macan (via Driver Profile) which is the most logical but that does not work either. So after my Account was finally fixed online and using the Phone Option to make Porsche ID stay on linked and registered the fight seems to be over.
The way I monitor if it is still working is by adding a Nav Destination under Porsche Connect website/app that is transferred to the car. So as soon as Porsche ID gets unlinked/unregistered these destinations disappear from the PCM Nav Fav list. The only destinations stay are the ones that you actually add directly into the PCM. My SA told me that this whole Porsche Connect is so bad that it goes down every week and they just tell customers to call Porsche Connect call center. Unfortunately, the call center is pretty useless as they do not even know when they have problems. It had been all working for me for about a few weeks until all Fav Destinations entered in the Porsche Connect website/app disappeared (from PCM and website/app). I tried to enter them again but it would add them all as "Off Road", so I called again, they opened a ticket and it took a week to fix. I told them that this stuff should work as advertised and these issues on the PCM v5 that has been around for some time are unacceptable. I asked for a year extension beyond included year for Nav and Car Connect ($205 value) and it has been under review for 2 weeks to approve it or not. I am basically a free tester for them that keeps on monitoring Porsche Connect operations and calling them to open tickets so they can work in resolving these issues.
This is just really unfortunate that someone with a new car has to fight this thing for 2 months as I did having no clue why Porsche ID would unlink/unregister then destinations and traffic would be lost after I did everything by the book.

...remember all of these experiences when they ask you to rate their "service" as "exceeded expectations"!

It would appear the only way to have exceeded one's expectations would be for one to have had none in the first place...

Too many institutions seem to be "adding technology" to their environments/products whether or not its applicable,
useful, intuitive (often COUNTER intuitive!) and then providing poor to essentially non-existent support for that defective
technology.

...better to simply leave the feature(s) out...

@[email protected]>@W, this is my experience with the service rating with the dealer. They beg me every time to give them all perfect scores as their life dependent on it. However, when I tried to be honest the feedback is just kicked back to the dealer and it ends there so there is no accountability so I do not rock the boat since they give me a lot of breaks on parts and service.

As far as Porsche Connect mess, the dealer tells me they have no hand in that and as a consumer I am to deal with their service center on my own including understanding of services and costs.

Last point, I do like the latest PCM tech with its clean integrated screen and interface. However, all the integration problems are inexcusable since it is all server side (Porsche ID linking, Nav Destinations, Traffic) and consumer runs into them on delivery without notice.

I too had issues with Porsche Connect on both my 2020 Macan and 2020 Cayenne. My phone is a Samsung so dealing with Android apps. The dealer was able to get my Cayenne working but on the Macan I had to use an older app which barely does anything. Honestly, I don't use it much anyway so haven't put much effor into figuring out if there is a way to get to work better.
