This is a tricky one. My local Porsche dealer is actually a listed authorized dealer to install this so the warranty would be covered. My previous 2018 GTS was also tuned from the Porsche dealer, so the warranty was covered. I'm not sure how it would work if you went to an independent shop that's authorized to install this.

I would suggest to check if any actual Porsche dealerships near you are one of the authorized shops to install.

I was going to reference a prior post, but I couldn't find it.

Tuning our 2.9 is either by ECU tune file (dealer detectable) or piggy back tune (not dealer detectable). Go to flatsixmotorsport.com and see what's available for the 2020-2021 GTS.

Cobb has a new accessport tune (stage 1 only) for $1300 and it's technically detectable by a dealer. Similar to this GIAC and provide 40-60hp gain on a GTS.
Burger Tuning has a piggy back tune JB4 that has a lot of good reviews for Macans and Audi RS4/RS5. It's around $800 and provides several stages with mobile app access. Just need to disconnect/re-connect several cables at the engine.
I talked to Burger and the JB4 is good for 500-525 hp for our 2.9. Above that, it's unsure if our 2.9 has some bottom end to handle 550+ like the Audi 2.9.

and if you have a 2.9 S Macan which is slightly de-tuned from the GTS, dyno chart shows actual OEM hp for an S is 390-395 (based on 340bhp), and S dyno matches the GTS curve pretty close until 5300 (S peak). After that, GTS gains hp to 434 at 6700.

Thx! Great summary for those of us that are new to the tuning game.

Have you used any of them? Just curious to hear your thoughts.

I take some comfort that the dealer-installed tunes have warranty protection but that warranty exposure is owned by the dealer not PCNA. I'd make sure I got something in writing from the dealer.

Personally, no tune yet for me. Loving my Soul exhaust and my pedal commander is nice and feels like I have an extra 50hp from initial start. Friend nearby has a Burger JB4 kit but hasn't installed it yet on his new GTS. Others on this forum will attest that JB4 is a good way to go for the money for our 2.9

Been driving the car stock the last 2.5 months. Saw someone on here posted that the GIAC tune was available for the 2022 Macan's, did a quick search for closest authorized installer and it happened to be our local Porsche dealer where we got the car from!

First Impressions: Just had this done yesterday, so haven't gotten to really step on it to open it up. But man, you can feel the instant torque increase. The nose of the car starts to lift upwards under hard acceleration and you can feel some wheel spin on the rear wheels. Did short distance highway pulls and it pulls hard! Night and day difference vs stock. GIAC states on their website the car should have (93 fuel) 510HP and 518TQ. I haven't done a dyno to confirm these numbers, but from the butt dyno, I would believe it.

I'd recommend this tune to anyone looking for that extra power, you won't be disappointed. Worth every penny!

sounds great-that's a nice increase with just a tune. Obviously, as we all know, a tune can cause warranty problems. Since this was actually done by your Porsche dealer, I am wondering if they made any commitments to you (hopefully in writing), that the tune would not impact warranty claims down the road..

Also curious what the cost is for a 2022 GTS

thanks.

The dealer said its covered under warranty since tuned through them. I didn't ask for writing (although I should). This is the 2nd car I've tuned with them over the years. Previous one was a 2018 Macan GTS and made it 3 years with no issues (knock on wood).

They reassured me that tuning through them is the safer route as a customer recently tuned their car outside somewhere and caused a lot of issues resulting in a $12,000 bill.

While modifying cars will always present some sort of risk, I would check with your local authorized installer on the warranty.

Dealer charged $1,800, but it was negotiable. This number will probably vary by the installer.
Thank you for sharing the info. I noticed GIAC is based in RSM in SoCal. Is it possible to share which dealer you contracted with ?
