I also have a 2022 GTS and had the matt Xpel film put on the console and infotainment system. I am very OCD and love that i get very few fingerprint. I really like that the whole center of dash/console matches. However I have had a problem of water getting into the console switches when they installed the film. It caused one panel to not operate and the LED temperature setting to flash. After it dried a couple days the console switches began functioning perfectly. The LED temperature is still flashing. It may return to working if there is still water in the electronics. It has been 4 days since the job was completed. The installation shop is having me take it to the dealer to solve but I can’t get in for 17 days. The installer is top notch and the best in the city so I am sure they were careful. I am sure the installer knows what he is doing because every time I go to his shop he is detailing/wrapping Ferraris, Lambos and even Bugatti‘s. So be extra careful on the installation if you decide to do this modification.

A local installer I’ve contacted about this job said he won’t do it for that reason. I’m still considering it but in the meantime, I keep it clean with a lenses grade microfiber cloth.

One Porsche dealer told me the same. Another said it’d be OK.

My installer said he does it all the time and he works on all makes and models including high end cars from Lamborghini, Ferrari etc. I suspect it takes a some skill and attention to detail to not overdo it with the water during install. I was scared to do it myself and after hearing of these problems I’m glad I didn’t try! It’s probably not a cheap fix.

This also begs the question about what’ll happen when a drink gets spilled on the console….

@KM20Turbo , @Djevans99 , now that you have lived with the PPF on the center console for a few weeks, what is your opinion/advice for those of us considering it? @Loins, any update on the xpel kit availability?
Still happy with it. Easier to maintain and buttons work flawlessly. .

Hey, yes good news. I was able to speak with someone more helpful at xpel this time and he helped me order the specific item.

They are sold as kits. So, if you want xpel PPF for the haptic controls, you need to buy the whole kit.

They have two versions of the kit. One is a matte finish version, while the other is clear.

Here Is a link to the matte finish version:P2526DE-US

The product code is P2526DE-US. The clear version is without the S at the end.

The kit is supposed to include the haptic controls and pcm screen.

You can’t just copy paste the code into the website search bar, you have to click from the main menu to go to kids and then into your car info and then both kids will appear in the list.

You can either order yours or ask a detailer if they already have it. I ordered mine bc the dealership said they’ll do it along with the other ppf work if I bring it in. Make sure to warn them not to let water get into the electronics.

@Loins, thanks for the link! The web site is, well, less than easy to navigate. I would never have found it. Have you installed the interior PPF kit, yet? Has anyone here?? I have an appointment on Thursday; I'll call my shop tomorrow to see what he says.

Not yet, I’ll bring it to the dealership in October when the car arrives if you can wait 2 months 😂

I really like the satin xpel film on my PCM and console. It looks really good, protects the surface and gets very few / minor fingerprints that wipe off easy. I had a high quality professional shop install it. I am not sure if they used a kit or self cut it. The edges are very clean and neat with about 1/16” of the clear plastic screen exposed Which makes me thing it was pre-cut. They charged me $150 in total. When I look at the above kit it looks like you have to buy full interior coverage vs just the PCM and console. They also covered the narrow panel where the volume knob is. This gives a very complete look by visually tying the PCM and console together.

Now for the problems. As I stated one panel in the console did not function immediately after installation. The installer says this happens once in a while and it will dry out over a couple of days. It did dry and worked perfectly. However, a day or two after the install my HVAC temperature digital control began flashing. This continued for many days. Then it stopped lighting at all but the HVAC kept working. Then the display came on for a few days then repeated the cycle several times. The car is currently in the dealer to find the issue. I will report back when the dealer returns the car.

Detail shop (Rocky Mountain Auto Salon) took some pics after they were done. Thought I’d share because it’ll never look this good again! 😀😢

Decided to go matte on the haptic controls and love it. No fingerprints and it ties in really well with the plastic around the shifter and the aluminum interior accents. It still looks great when lit up as well. For the very OCD out there, there’s a 1mm border around the control console with the Expel kit that is still shiny. The installer got it perfectly even so it almost looks like its by design. Console pic shows before and after. Couldn’t be happier.

Next up, wheel spacers are in my garage waiting for when i get some spare time.
