Flat6 or Autotecknic side markers

Going back and forth, can’t decide which to get. Definitely getting clear - have a night blue GTS. Any pros or cons to either, which are people preferring? Which shine better when lit?

Never heard of autotecknic, but their site only shows for Gen 1. If you have a new macan go for Flat6. Everyone gets Flat6. Haven't found a single complaint about the Flat6 ones, and their service is very friendly.

Autotechnic work just fine on Gen 3 - I installed on my 2022 GTS - no errors, correct fitment and no need for included resistors. Autotechnic are LED's while Flat6 uses regular bulbs.

those are the autotecknic ones. They are different as there is not a single bulb, but rather an LED strip.
I went with the Autotechnic because of the single strip LED look. Just looks more high tech.
The LED strip is like what other Porsche's have. New Cayenne's for example, have the strip.
I ordered same off Amazon. Hopefully no bulb out warnings. Only $33 on Amazon

I've been happy with my Flat6 sidemarkers on my '17 GTS. It is an LED strip and have had zero issues.

Are sure you have the Flat 6 lights? This is from their website as of today:

The Flat 6 Motorsports Upgraded Side Markers are a direct factory replacement to the ugly orange OEM side markers on your Macan. OEM fitment and an easy install make this a must-have for anyone looking to improve the look of their Macan.

Each kit comes with two aftermarket side marker lights (driver's side and passenger's side) with a pair of DOT-compliant Sylvania amber bulbs for an error-free operation for the life of your vehicle.

When the lights are on, the side marker will project an amber light to comply with all DOT and public road laws.

Features

  • Improved styling
  • Easy install
  • Error free
  • Available in clear or smoked
  • Includes long-lasting Sylvania DOT compliant amber bulbs"

I think Flat 6 sold LED side lights a few years back but went back to bulbs because of the LED's throwing "bulb out codes". Did you get them a few years back? The Autotecknic side lights have a resistor added to simulate a standard bulb.

I was thinking the same thing.

I had the original before they switched out but I've never thrown a code

The LED line looks out of place to me. I like how the old school bulb gives it an even glow.

Flat 6 worked fine with my 2017 GTS. View attachment 261038
I just didn't want someone buying the current Flat 6 lights thinking they were getting LED's. I've got no insight as to why some early Flat 6 LED's were throwing codes and others not. It seems however, that it was enough for them to go back to bulbs.

I did exactly the same thing. Wanted the single horizontal LED line consistent with the rear taillights. I went with clear.
Many customers end up ordering ours because of faults/error messages related to the LED light. We make LED for pretty much every other model Porsche for a reason. You might not have issues but it's something we've developed and played with for 4-5 years now.

After comparing two different products, I went with the "Depo" brand over the Flat6. The Depo look more like OEM and are actual retroreflectors.
