Hi my 2023 macan gts is now in. Ordered it in July. It was suppose to come in the middle of October but it came early. I'm super happy about that. I'm buying it tomorrow. Is it worth getting a 100k mile extend warranty and does anybody know about how much it costs. Thx

Not something that I would purchase. Basically a gamble in which Porsche knows the odds better than the customer. My experience includes having a CPO Boxster which I drove for something over 130k miles. The one failure during my ownership, which to me should have been covered was not.

Five years of extended warranty coverage runs about $5,000. That is about a year of depreciation. So this is nothing except a sleep filled night with no worries about a failed German engineering problem.

I just bought my wife a super clean 2015 Macan S. This is our first Porsche and German car. We are car enthusiasts that have owned Vipers, Lotus’s and everything in between so normal maintenance isn’t a big deal as long as it’s reasonable. I instantly bought some HRE wheels, lowering springs and an axle back exhaust. After spending hours on the Macan Forum, Rennlist and Macan Facebook forums I’m seeing some common issues that can add up in cost. I’m debating between two options. 1st rolling the dice and going no warranty and having local independent Porsche/Audi/VW shops work on the car. 2nd get a Fidelity gold warranty ($6,300 for 4 years) and going with Porsche dealer maintenance. My main concerns is the warranty work being voided because of the aftermarket parts. Has anyone had experience with this? How reliable are these cars now they are getting older? Looked and read a few post but nothing consistent.

Why do you say that and what if the car does not have a warranty right now? I ask because I bought my 2016 S with a 6 month powertrain warranty 12 months ago. I had the timing chain cover leak fixed already under that warranty but it is now expired and I am sitting with a car with about 70k miles on it.

Just looking for recommendations on what to do and who to do it with.

Do a risk assessment. (I did). If the warranty will cost you $1500.00 per year, what's the odds that you will spend that amount (and more) each year for the next 4 to 5 years?. Remember Maintenace items are not covered. Do you have access to a good independent shop that can do the heavy lifting repair wise in the occasion arises? Are you in a position to handle a large repair if you are unlucky?
Finally, the odds are all in your favor that you will spend less on the Macan than the warranty will cost you. Thats how warranty companies make money.
After looking at all the factors I chose not to renew my warranty. The choice is yours.

That helps a lot. Thanks. I honestly did not look into a warranty because I have a great independant shop that took care of my Boxster before my Macan. I trust them and they have been great.

I had a couple of large ticket items on the Boxster ($2k and up repairs) but never in the same year.

Frankly I am afraid to even look into an extended warranty given the number of calls and emails I get right now!

My 2018 GTS’s factory warranty expires at the end of March. I plan to purchase a Porsche extended warranty program. I know that dealers can sell at variable prices so am wondering if anyone has received a fair offer for the purchase of an extended warranty from a dealer they can recommend? My dealer here in Indianapolis has done little to impress me so far so I want to shop around.

I appreciate any feedback.

  • Dealers had latitude of freedom on pricing (I say this based on my experience working for Harley-Davidson. This MAY not be true with Porsche, but I suspect it is)
  • It makes no matter what dealer you purchase it from - it will be honored at any Porsche dealer.
