Copper Ruby Metallic - First Time Build

2254 Views 14 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  andallthatjazz
Last week I made my deposit for my first Porsche, a Macan-S. I did this without the knowledge that this great and informative forum existed. Since then I have been reading through the many contributions and opinions. My dealer tried to get me into his build slot that closed at the end of last week, but the Bose option came up with a no go. His next slot has a build lock of March 6th and that had no issues with the Bose. This is my slot and would like to share with you all my Build and solicit any comments/opinions you might have. Please note that I have read the many comments regarding spending too much $$ on the “S” when it takes you into the “GTS” world. I decided to stay with the “S” as this is my first Porsche.

Copper Ruby Macan-S Build: PPDTUFR7

For the other folks that have ordered a Copper Ruby, what wheels did you go with? I have the 20” Macan-S in Vesuvius Grey currently on my build. Saw these on a White Macan-S at my dealership and they looked nice and gave decent contrast flowing down the side skirts and around the front and rear skirting. Thoughts?

In addition, can you request on your order to get a specific brand of tire on your rims from the factory? I have seen Michelin, Pirelli, and Goodyear on wheels at my dealership. My first choice would be Michelin’s.

Lastly, was anyone given a heads-up by your dealer if your vehicle delivery was going to be delayed due to a chip or part shortage after the build began?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I'm not going to provide any critique on your specific build as I think there is more than enough info in this forum for you to make the decisions as to what matters to you. You can see in my signature block what the things are that matter to me. No offense to you but more often than not, people have actually already made up their mind and are seeking validation more than they are seeking advisement but I'm happy to answer specific questions.

I've seen a Copper Ruby at my dealer. It was a T so it had the standard metallic gray wheels. It was a good looking combination to me.

No, you don't get to choose your tire manufacturer.

I have a Copper Ruby Metallic!
What a beautiful color it turned out to be in my spec (or our spec I should say, since we both opted for the beige leather interior)
You are not going to be disappointed!
Mine came with Pirelli’s
Only thing I’m bummed out about is the manual steering column

I also have Copper Ruby S -I like it because it’s understated but still interesting. I went with the Mojave Beige leather interior; it goes really well with the Copper Ruby and I wanted a lighter interior, especially as I didn’t opt for the pano roof. I opted for Mojave Beige dials, too, and really like them. Heres’s the build: PPNV7575

I got the standard 20” wheels and have no regrets. Definitely wanted to stay with 20’s based on the state of roads in the upper Midwest. I don’t know which tires came from the factory as rims and tires were switched out for a set of winter wheels tires before delivery. Winters are Michelin Alpins, which gave been great.

When I ordered, there was no option for Bose. For my use, I have no complaints with the standard sound system.

I‘ve had the car about a month and have put on 800 miles. Switched from along line of BMWs and am glad I did.

Thanks for responding and sharing your experience and build with me. I looked yours up and laughed when I saw our Build prices were only $10 apart! I agree with the 20’s as well as I live in the pot-hole capital during the Chicago winters! I am excited about receiving mine in early May and am hopeful it will look as nice as yours!

Afterglow,

Thanks for this very specific report. My dealer who already had my deposit kept telling me over and over the Bose was still not an option until the 2024 models. I printed out your first post, highlighted the March 6th, and said this guy from Chicago got it done. Sure enough they swapped my March 3rd freeze date order with someone else a week later and Voila! the Bose became an option again. I think they were truly in the dark and were a little upset Porsche didn't informed them.

Got the Bose and I am happy.

Hey Jon,

I am glad my notes helped you out with the Bose! Now we both need to figure out how to get the calendar to move a little faster so we can start enjoying our new ride and the musical ambiance!

Congrats! She is a beauty and looks awesome! Are you going to “spin” up her wheels a bit to help melt that snow? 😎 Looking forward to receiving mine as well. When you get a chance can you let us know if yours did come with the comfort entry feature. Thanks and enjoy!

I am about 10 days from locking in a similar build. I’ve had this color for 8 years with my 2015 Macan S, but just got the regular mojave interior. I have a large dog who likes to travel around with me. He’s pretty good, but sometimes likes to jump into the front seat and pretend he’s driving if I run into the house for a minute and leave the engine running. Should I be concerned about damage to the leather. He’s never done anything to my current interior nor did our previous one who behaved similarly, just not as big.
