In both Germany and Australia (at least) there is a free option to upgrade the Macan S petrol tank from 65L to 75L.

Why would anyone not choose this? The 75L is standard on the Turbo.

Is there some sort of compromise wrt ground clearance or boot/trunk space?

Yea I'm def getting the free upgrade, pain to keep filling up, especially with the amount of driving ill be doing, around 30000K a year.

Weight and range. ..

Personally I almost never put more than 45-50L in my vehicles. Fluids are heavy.
Makes sense for that I guess. 10L extra fuel only weighs an extra 7.11kg (15.7lb) though (plus the extra physical weight of the larger tank)
