Proud owners of the 2016 Macan Turbo with 68K miles with everything that could possibly happen to it, as it feels. Looking to replace it with 2023 Macan S in PTS = Fountain Blue Metallic with this build code: PPBKR8C0

Wheel Tire Car Vehicle Vehicle registration plate

This will be my wife's daily driver so I chose everything that I know she would expect at a minimum after we agreed on the look of everything.

Some rationale:

1. Performance of the current S seems to be exact on 0 - 60 mph (4.6 sec and 4.4 sec with SC) to our first gen Turbo despite differences in engine 2.9 vs. 3.6 and hp/torque ratings.
2. Intent to match as much of what we are used to PASM, AS, PTV+, but adding SC this time for the 20 sec button.
3. Currently have Solid roof going with Pano, configurator is not showing it and my SA confirmed it is a known bug.
4. Decided on PTS this time as we like this light blue metallic and wonder what the wait times for this are expected.
5. Any advice on the 2023 vs. 2024, meaning the ICE version, cannot find any info on what may be changing besides a large price increase.
6. Dealer has large number of Base version Macans of all builds and colors, any advice on discounts for a custom S order. Price seems out of hand at $108K but that includes 12K of PTS, so for what it is without it, call it a 96K build vs. 89K we paid in 2015 for the first gen 2016 Turbo without ACC/Pano/PSCBs/ExtLeather/ThermoGlass and so on with a link to the full build in the signature.
7. One item would like to confirm is automatic braking feature, sometimes called Warn and Brake Assist. I test drove a Base and it looks like it is standard under PAS menu. However, I could not find a spot where LCA would be enabled/disabled since there was no button on the door. I assume this is configured in the gauge cluster screen and not the PCM.
8. Second item, looking to confirm, looks like COBB is available for 2023 S, so for $150 firmware upgrade price, has anyone done this and then used to COBB a 2023.

Glad to be back and appreciate all the advice this by far the best forum I have been part of.

You will most likely not get a discount on a custom and especially not in an S or GTS. Also not sure if there are anymore paint to sample slots left for 2023, I believe it is closed for 2023 but I could be wrong. The color looked Awesome. If the dealer is going to make you pay MSRP have you done a price comparison of a S vs GTS with your options. I had a 2016 Macan S I traded in for a 2023 Macan S and one thing I noticed immediately was that the heated steering wheel for $250 is not as thick as the heated steering wheel I had on 2016. The new style is not as thick at 9 and 3 position on the wheel, you may want to look at thread that compare the GT heated wheel compared to the regular heated wheel. Also the 2023 S is 375 Hp and wasn’t the turbo 400Hp? The 2023 GTS is 434.

Any changes to MY2024 would be coincidental, the price increase announced just motivated me to get a GTS this year, so I'd get one now. But, my dude... $103K for a Macan S is bonkers. You're going to take a 30K depreciation the second you drive it off the lot. If money is no object then go on ahead. I do think it's possible to get a discount on the S models at some dealerships.

Performance as listed in the printed brochure materials I have for both:

2016 Turbo 400hp and 406lb.-ft. 0 - 60 mph: 4.6 sec and with SC 4.4 sec
2023 S 375hp and 383lb.-ft 0 - 60 mph: 4.6 sec and with SC 4.4 sec

Very nice colour combination. Its a pity the Fountain Blue metallic is a PTS colour, as it goes beautifully with the pebble grey interior. I don’t think there is going to be any major changes to the ICE Macan this year. Porsche resources has been stretched on developing the new EV Macan and upgrade the Cayenne. They may tweak it next year to bring it more inline with the EV Macan so it may get some changes in 2025.

Yes, nice colours that will go together well...

With the slow ramp up of the Macan EV and markets like ours likely being ICE dominated for some time in the future, I have wondered about further updates.

Seems likely that given the blowout in development timeframes, the "old" Macan will keep going until 2026 at least.

I'm inclined to think that there will be some minor updates in 2024/5 to suck people like me into ordering a new GTS before it is all over !

I guess, I overstayed my welcome, not many helpers this time. I would appreciate the help with a few remaining questions:

1. GT vs. Standard Steering Wheel: Is the GT smaller thinner kind forced with SC selection. Does not appear to be but need to confirm because it was on the 2020 Cayenne that we have but like the GT kind on it a lot. The selection is SC + Heated Steering wheel.

2. Heated Windshield: I would like to understand how it works and if you see the wires in the glass that might be distracting. Also, assume the glass will be more expensive to replace if it has any additional heating elements. I also optioned Thermo Glass this time so that will definitely add to the replacement glass cost.

3. ACC: I would like to confirm that in fact when enabled but not engaged, it does perform a Warn and Brake Assist function by scanning vehicles ahead and issuing a Warning and then Braking automatically.

4. Wireless Charging Compartment: I would like to understand if the compartment design now is a vertical slide of the phone with a plastic clip holding it in place (like in the Taycan), so the bottom of the compartment can be used normally.

5. PTS: I wonder if anyone got a PTS for 2023 S and how long it took from say getting a build slot to delivery in the US. Also, is there a service that sends over a PTS sample in metal to see of the actual color and then returned.

The GT wheel is a smaller diameter with a slightly thicker grip circumference than the regular macan wheel. No idea how that compares to the cayenne. Might be worth going into a dealer to get your hands physically on one.

My understanding with PTS is that they only build PTS cars at one time slot per year in the summer. That means the slots fill up ahead of that pretty quickly and then the wait begins. I've heard it adds on average 6mths to the regular lead time but it can be as much as an extra year. I've also heard that PTS is currently suspended on all models (all 911 variants included) but I've not confirmed that with anyone official yet.

I can confirm acc comes with the brake warning feature you are looking for. Acc does not have to be activated for the feature to work. I am not a fan of the feature either.

I have the heated windshield. It has a little gold color when viewed from outside, which may be the insulated glass option which I also have. Not sure there. No visible wires. Activates with rear defog switch. Works good for defogging front glass without using defroster. Received in February 2023. Has not been left outside so unable to comment on removal of frost/ice/snow. Yes I imagine it is expensive. I added zero deductible glass coverage to my insurance policy which cost me $50/year

Super helpful responses from everyone. I am down now to the Wireless Charging compartment question on its design and function. For example, can I have one phone if in a vertical slot to be wirelessly charging and then another sitting flat on the bottom connected with a wire for charging.

I wanted to find out how much more expensive things got from 2016 Turbo order (made April 2015) to 2023 S (to now March 2023) considering they are equivalent in performance which they are on paper from 0 - 60 mph. I took my 2016 Turbo build sheet and made it using 2023 S build items. This is what I ended up with making some guesses (orange), used out of package costs (green), and assumed that Xenon lights of the day (standard were Halogen) are equivalent to current LED. I am sure someone would be able to provide correct numbers from 2015 days for the guesses I made, including options such as Sports+, Pano Roof, and PDLS+ if it was an option in those days that I do not have to compare to the current prices. My conclusion is that if the new S is as fast as our current Turbo, which appears to be on paper, then things got cheaper because there is a lot more standard equipment in the base price including the latest PCM inclusive of online services which is far more superior, LED headlights, and Package pricing of individual options. Then, we placed our order in April and got it delivered in July. Now, I do not even know if we can order one at all.

And don't forget to factor in inflation. 92k in 2015 dollars is 117k in today's money.

I believe you have reached the point in time that if you want a new 2023, search current inventory to see if anything is available that will scratch your itch. I wanted a GTS and found one. That was early February. My only real desire was GTS, with Burmester. I got $500 off sticker but had to buy $500 already installed PPF door pocket and edge guard installation. So basically they comped the plastic. I searched thru Porsche website, using zip codes for my area (south central), then other zips, west coast, east coast, etc. I was willing to travel but there were still minimal choices and quite a few were priced over sticker. Inventory is tight and local dealer said they could not order another GTS. Now I see other consumers reporting they cannot order the GTS at their local dealer. I concentrated on the GTS mainly for the hp bump. Some owners report there is no actual difference in performance but I doubt it. Some youtubers/reviewers that actually test the car vs. use Porsche data, report mid to low 3 sec 0-60 with the GTS. If true, much faster than Porsche's given numbers. Either way I own a top of the line and end of the era Porsche Macan and love it.

Bumping my thread to see if anyone can help with additional inputs on the build and PTS experience and timing on a 2023 S.
