Put deposit down today to reserve one of the first EV macans. I’m fifth in line to get one of a large dealers first allocation. They aren’t giving me dates, and said would depend on supple chain issues but anticipate by end of year. Cant spec build out yet.

hope it’s half the car my 2018 is!

Thank you for volunteering to beta test my future-future Macan! ;-)

I’ve done much the same… I‘m hoping it has a 300+ mile real world range, matrix headlights, and HUD. If not I’ll just convert my deposit over onto something else in the range! Although not sure my man maths will stretch to a Taycan Sport Turismo GTS ;)

Announce Fall 23, Probably launch 24
"The new electric Porsche Macan will be presented at the end of 2023 and will join the current Macan with petrol engines for a few months"
This suggests the ICE Macan will only be sold for a few months into 2024, but I don't buy it. The Macan (base) is Porche's best seller and the ICE Macan will be considerably more expensive. Unless I am missing something, or Porsche will choose to leave money on the table, the ICE Macan could be sold well into 2025 or perhaps even 2026.

The part your missing is the fines PAG will be subject to if they don't dump the ICE vehicles. Look them up. Figure out how much they will pay in fines if they do not meet their goals. The EU is lost. They are going electric. Period, well as long as the existing politicians are in office.

I sure did, found this article that explains it. What I still don't understand is whether these fines are levied on manufacturing or sales. Could Porsche make sell ICE Macans longer in certain markets where the economics are favourable, but sell EV Macan only within the EU?

you got to know the 2022 targets, thats two years old

US cafe fines are paid by the carmaker and likely buried in the msrp

There are numerous stories floating around.... I am betting my money on a 2022 4Q introduction and a model-year 2023 starting sales for the Macan BEV... There are more spy sightings of these vehicles now, and Porsche wants to move up the timeline rather than delay it, because of the impending penalties for ICEV production in Europe.

Have you been advised how much the Macan EV will cost?
I read the base macan ev is 80ish, the Macan EV S 90ish and not sure about the GTS but over 100K. I am looking to get one myself but a sub 5 second 0 to 60mph 80ish car does not excite me. time will tell.

I can't believe I didn't do this earlier, but after checking out the latest spy shots and news, I realized that I need to put down a deposit asap. I currently have deposit down for a Taycan 4 Cross Turismo, but if a Macan EV can be delivered sometime in 2023, which is how long current Taycan CT lead time is anyway, I think I prefer a fully loaded Macan GTS/Turbo EV compared to a moderately loaded Taycan 4 CT, for the same budget (~$120k?).

Will report back if I hear anything useful regarding timeline/pricing/allocation.

Talked to two dealers in my area and it seems very unlikely we get the Macan EV (or whatever the new name will be, think about Taycan vs Panamera EV) for MY23, as neither of them has a lot info, and we're already in the 2nd half of 2022.

Expecting a 2023 launch for MY24 at this point.

but if a Macan EV can be delivered sometime in 2023
Possibly not even in 2024?
"The German premium automaker is now pivoting to focus on a less ambitious model that could arrive in 2025 without that autonomous driving technology that was supposed to fend off competition from Tesla, BMW, and Mercedes. To do that, it will use an intermediate generation-1.2 software version. That was supposed to be completed in 2021, but is also far behind schedule, sources said. Porsche, meanwhile, has already begun pre-series production of its upcoming Macan EV at its factory in Leipzig, but it may also have to pivot. “The hardware is great,” a Porsche source said, “but the software is still missing.”

Yup, looks like a 2024 market launch meaning 2025 North American delivery if all goes well.

What a bummer. Probably getting a Taycan then.

Love the rear spoiler on the EV Macan. Reminds me of the MB AMG GTS.

My company sells software to VAG, and the general incompetence and bureaucratic nonsense they put us through makes me not all surprised VAG continue to be incompetent at developing their own software. They have the antithesis of a Silicon Valley mindset.
