It is time to sell our Macan. Been a great car and the first super nice car I have bought my wife. It is a bit unique over other Macans volcano gray with Xpel satin on the entire car. Black interior. I will need to be sitting down when you tell me what I am going to get for the car. We bought it used with 7,000 miles so about $20,000 of the pain was by the first owner. It still has some time on a platinum warranty to make the new buyer safe. Has had all service, new Porshe windshield, brakes and Michelin tires. It is not a wrap;

you can see the paint and metallic through the Xpel mat finish. I may throw in her e-bike to sinch the deal with someone. Thanks for your help.

The paint protection film is a sunk expense. You will very likely not get that money back unfortunately, but it could still help sell the car. Worst case you could position it as having been there to protect the paint and it can be removed leaving a near-perfect finish underneath.

Are the red accents around the wheels easily removable? If you're trying to sell private party I'd consider removing them. The satin finish may be appealing to some, but the red accents seem like a lower likelihood for mass appeal and are more targeted for individual tastes. Removing them would restore a more neutral aesthetic that might get you more interest.

In any case, these cars' value rapidly deteriorate with miles, but at least you have less distance to fall from having bought used yourself.

Quick question on the Xpel, as I just had mine done in December- how is it for longevity? I've already noticed some pretty substantial scratches on mine that I thought would go away. Does it have to be warmer temps for the "self-healing" to take effect? I've heard that could be the case but I still figured the scratches would go away in time and they're still there... and it seems like they were created by simply drying the car with a microfiber towel. Actually sort of disappointed in it so far, but you do have to get right up on it to notice. Standing even 5 feet or so back and it looks fantastic but the micro scratches/scuffs being there every time I clean it are irritating me.

I do not agree. A fair amount of people will pay extra for a Macan if it has certain options say like Sport Chrono, ACC or maybe a paint to sample color.

I also have full Xpel stealth on mine (bought it used with it already on). I haven’t had it long enough to test the self healing but I remember reading something about it needing to be pretty warm in direct sunlight for it to start working. I’ve seen people pour hot water (not boiling) on it or use heat guns carefully to “heal” scratches. I’m having my local installer replace two panels and I’ll be asking him about this along with proper care/maintenance.

Also, never dry a car with just a dry microfiber towel. The drying process is the most common time scratches occur because there is no lubrication (water itself doesn't lubricate). Use a drying aid while drying the vehicle every time and this will significantly help reduce chances of scratches.

Yeah I'll be having at least one panel replaced soon and I'll definitely run this by the installer as well, was just wondering if someone who's had the film for a while can attest to the scratches/scuffs just being something to get used to.

And I know that drying can lead to scratches, but I thought that part of having the film is that I wouldn't have to worry about the "AMMO Hydrate" routine I used to do on non-film-covered paint. That was kind of part of the appeal... and also I use an electric leaf blower to get about 70% of the water off as well. Hopefully I haven't done enough damage to warrant replacement... most of the scratches are on the hood/top fender so I guess it would just be the one panel... but it has yet to be exposed to temps over 55 anyway, probably not enough to worry about at this point.

That’s interesting. My ppf is close to two years old. I’ve only had the car for a little over a month myself but have washed it 4 times by hand and have not noticed any type of scratches or anything like that from my washings (or prior washings as the film itself is in good shape). The only two scratches that I think are permanent are pretty deep and were definitely not caused by washing. So I don’t think getting scuffs or light scratches from washing is normal. Something seems off if that’s what’s happening.

The only reason I’m having a couple panels redone is because they didn’t properly prep some old rock chips before applying the ppf and they are on the hood and front bumper. Those are focal points so I’m having that fixed because I see it and it bothers me. Haha

Even though the discussion has deviated from the original I will comment on Xpel since I have almost 6 years of car washes and abuse. My car is in a carport and the rear gets some sun and weather. I have a couple tears in the Xpel. I was going to use a clear silicone to fill in but it is not bad to have a few flaws on a five year old car. I don't notice scratches but do use the Xpel sealer often. It is pretty amazing stuff considering but came on my car and I would likely not have paid the $6 grand the PO paid. If the sun hits it the car is pretty wild because the metallic greens and silvers show through. Where I live in Newport Beach every 50+ woman has a Macan and mine looks unique and really good with the red accents. I will likely market it as is and list it with or without the Xpel and red. If the new owner wants stock that is what they will get. It would surprise me if someone wants it back to stock because it is so unique now but whatever it takes for the sale.
