Default So I finally drove a 2018 911 GTS

I did a bad thing today, I test drove a 2018 911-GTS manual 7 speed................WOW.

I was not expecting such refined power delivery and so much fun just sitting in the seat and admiring the beauty of the car.

The only thing holding me back is that I know I will not get anywhere what I need from my trade.

But its a stunning example, especially the Miami Blue color..........

The trade would be one of my Corvettes,my 3200 mile 427/convertible, not the new GTS

This is for me, the wife drives the Macan GTS and the Boxster GTS, I have a ZR1 Corvette and a C6/427 Convertible Corvette.

I also have a GMC Denali and 2 Harley's, so I need something new and shiny..........life is too short to work hard and not play hard, besides who better to spend my money, me or my kids when I am gone...........LOL.

Been on my bucket list, and lastly, I do not like the look of the 911/Cab, and we loved our Boxster S, just wanted an exact build for the Boxster GTS, and this 911 is so close to one I built, its only off by a few options, I built one and its within $1000 of this one MSRP, but the discount is not where I need it to be on a non-CPO 2018 with 4300 miles.

I feel ya, I was kicking it around for almost a year, test drove a new one and now waiting for mine to be delivered. I have had 911's before but all earlier model base Cab's....no comparison. To top it off my friend showed me the sports performance button on his Turbo S, OMG that is similar to a booster rocket so much fun.

This is why I don’t test drive cars anymore. Been thinking about getting a 911 and I’ve only had the Macan S (first Porsche ever) for 9 months. It’s dangerous.

You should do away with both of the Vettes for the 911 GTS. Or one of it for a base or a T with a Cobb tune if you're mod friendly. OMG it's as much or more fun than a stock GTS.

If a manual was imperative I'd look at the Carrera T to compare . I feel the car's focus is to be" less is more" . With the GTS the larger turbos simply thrive so well on PDK . It does look amazing in Miami Blue with the black sqyders .

My ZR1 is a keeper, I spent 2 years exhaustively searching for that car, there are only 35 examples of that year/color, its a 1st year model, only year color, 1 of 35.........its my coffin !!!!

As much as I want to embrace a PDK, its not for me, I am someone who has always had a manual car, for almost 30 years my wife has had a manual car, so its not anything we are ready to give up just yet, we are not happy unless we are shifting gears.

I know I give up performance, etc, but its about the experience of holding the gear until you want a lower or higher gear.

We specifically ordered a Boxster GTS loaded and a manual for a long term purchase, knowing the depreciation would be steep due to the options we spec'd.

I also want a loud color, and sadly many lot cars are boring to us, Miami Blue is what we have decided for a color.

If I cannot get a GTS I may look for a 2-3 year old 911 Turbo around $150k price point then.

I almost bought it yesterday, I had to step away from the ledge and really put pencil to paper and see how much sense it makes.

But if you walk into the dealer and drive one, the fever is hard to break, I tossed and turned all night with that Miami Blue GTS running thru my head.

Miami Blue is my wife's favorite Color, and I must admit it is stunning. The 991 GTS is such an amazing machine for a street car.

Yep, it's a bad idea to test a Porsche. Early last year I tested one and a couple of days later I was already signing on the dotted line. Better to stay away.
