Question My 1st Porsche: $65K limit Macan base or S?

My 1st potential Porsche: $65K limit on 2019 Macan base or S? Definitely need your input. Would you guys do option A or B or _______? I'm not a speedster but do like my BMW 330i road handling performance.

I'm giving myself 65K limit "Drive out" for sure assuming I get my 8.5% off MSRP to offset tax/title/license. Local Porsche Dealer in Houston [Porsche of West Houston [Len] willing to match Perimeter Porsche [Chad] in Atlanta BUT "in stock" only unlike Chad new order].

Option A: Macan base with standard white color, 20" Macan Turbo Wheels +$4.2K, Standard Interior in Black/ Mojave Beige +$260, Prem Pkg Plus +$6.5, Sport Seats +$380, LCA +$700 …….. ~$63,190 MSRP

Option B: : Macan S with standard White exterior, 21" RS Spyder Design Wheels +$3.4K, Standard Interior in Black/ Mojave Beige +$260, LED Headlights incl. Porsche Dynamic Light System Plus (PDLS+) +$1.2K , LCA +$700 = ……...MSRP 65,400

C: ________________ your input with $65K limit

Super thanks guys. Or forget the Porsche and get the BMW 2019 X5 base fully loaded around the same.

IMHO- Buy the loaded BMW or (Option C purchase a nicely optioned low mileage CPO instead. ), since neither of the above choices appeal to me at all. Do you really want either of those with the limited amount of options on them?

2018 Macan GTS, Carrara White Metallic, 20" Black Spyder wheels, Black 18 way Adaptive Sport Seats in Leather/Alcantara w/Red GTS stitching and Seatbelts, Carbon Fiber Interior package, Premium +, LCA, PCM, Trailer Hitch, Smoking package, Heated Steering wheel, Expel front end protection.

2015 Audi S4 P+, Sepang Blue, EPL Stage 1 ECU and TCU tune.
2005 Honda Element EX - Stock but Hybrid, it starts on electric and switches to gas.

Have you driven either the base or S? Do you like them?

$65K is used GTS/Turbo money.

If you don't want used, go spend $60K on a new X3M40i, which will be way more fun to drive than either the Macan base/S, or the base X5.

I'm not a wild driver either, but after having our woefully under-powered 1st gen Infiniti Qx4 many eons ago, I decided to always go for more power. That stupid thing could barely get out of its own way & I hated the thought of pulling out into traffic with it. We traded it in on the next iteration of the Qx4 as soon as that was released. That said, I'd opt for a well equipped S or used GTS at that price point. I agree with the other posters - also look at some BMW options before you decide. Drive them all, too. That'll be the best way to decide what you want.

The Hubster recently got a barely used X5M for his daily driver. It's got a lot more tech in it than my Macan does, so take that into consideration, too: are you someone who wants a ton of tech toys or are you more interested in the drive itself? If you like lots of tech, you may be happier with a BMW.

2008 911 Turbo Cab in Speed Yellow
2018 X-5M in Mineral White

At the 65 price point the main question is must it be new or is CPO a possibility ?

@greatdon23 , if you could create and post the Porsche codes for each build, it would be easier for us to look at your builds and comment.
For example - http://www.porsche-code.com/PKEA6513

Drive both to figure out whether the base suits you personally. None of us can tell you that. Drive’em back to back. Then patiently watch for a CPO build that appeals to you, particularly if you’re expecting to be a long term owner.

I have owned both a 2015 Macan S and currently own a 2018 Macan (Base). Both are great vehicles, however, I prefer my 2018 base. The base gets great MPG! My average MPG is 28 with all city driving!
