I did a quick comparison between the x4 3.5 and Macan S. Both appear to have similar dimensions and weight. Yet with 40 less horses and torque on the bimmer they have similar posted 0-60 times (not using SC on Macan). What am I missing?

I think the macan will be faster once we see some instrumented tests from C&D MT and the like. That said, bmw does tend to underrate HP. Note the new M4 rated at 420 HP that recently put out 421 AT THE WHEELS on a dyno. F80 BMW M3 and F82 BMW M4 Dyno and Weight. This seems to be the trend with BMW, but also with audi. Not sure what Porsche does - I'm new to the brand.

I'm very curious to see which Diesel they bring over in the X4. It seems to be a little bit of a game of chicken.

x4 m40i with M2 engine is ready to roll ... it looks like it's slotted right in between the Macan S and Turbo, in terms of power output.

* powered by a new reworked N55 3.0L turbo six engine (N55B30T0) producing around 370-380 PS (365-375 HP)

Will it still be ugly (like a Pontiac Aztek) or are they planning to fix that too?

I don't think it's ugly.
Frankly I prefer the design to an SUV which is what the Macan is. Having said that I would buy the Macan over it.

But then I really like the Panamera too and think it looks great. If it was this size it would be awesome.

Different styles for different people.

And unfortunately the soccer mom comment defines who drives the Cayennes where I live. Almost all 30 - 50 year old female drivers.

The Cayenne is more an inherent mom's car, the Macan is thoroughly sportier and more enthusiast driven.

The X4 is just hideous and tasteless looking, but a beefed up N55 is drool worthy. Between Porsche and BMW, they're at the to of the engine game by far, and BMW's Inline 6 Turbo is a masterpiece.

i'm coming from a X3 F25, the same as X4 of course.
Nice SUV but I was looking for a better finish quality , motor sound and then came both X4 and Macan
BUT X4 interior is just exactly the same as my ex- X3 ! In spite of 4000 € more .
In France, it's diesel for all of these SUV; also the L6-D is too noisy compared to the Audi-Porsche V6 TDI.
4500 € more (compared to X4) for the Porsche but I dont regret !
