Default Porsche ahead in 2017 Le Mans

With 9 hours to go and possible 1-2 finish!!
Watching it live with the "24H Le Mans" iPhone app @ $4.99 for the race.

For me, it's the torque over weight ratio at mid RPM.

Watching again on TV this am. Made we recall fond memories of driving up to the Parade in Jay Peak VT a year ago this morning and listening to last year's amazing finish on the radio.

I was at the Porsche Center of Geneva to watch the start of the race, and I must have watched some 12 hours of it all in all: Two Toyota hybrids dropping from the race one right after the other; the #1 Porsche 919 losing the engine when it appeared to be invincible; the #92 911 RSR hitting the wall when it was leading; the #2 919 recovering from an early problem that had it around 1 hour inside the garage to overtaking the until then leading Jackie Chan Racing LMP2 with about one hour to go to take the overall win; the Aston Martin Vantage overtaking the Corvette on the last turn of the last chicane after having rubbed panels a lap earlier to take the GTE PRo win from Corvette... This is, together with Indy 500, the greatest motor sports event on Earth.

What is a shame, a BIG shame, is the Balance of Performance rule by which teams investing in technology, in improving their cars, like Porsche with the new mid-engined 911 RSR, Ferrari, Corvette or Ford, see an old Aston Martin take the GTE Pro win while their own cars are ballasted to reduce their performance, or even tuned down (how on Earth is it possible that the LM Ford GT is capped to 150 HP lower horsepower than the road model?)

I quit watching NASCAR many years ago for the same reason as they'll turn the event into a joke.

The ambience in the Porsche Center was great at the start of the race; we were about 50-60 people, with drinks, coffee, nice food, and some workshops and displays in the service area ?they would even paint your key for free.

Oh, and they had a nice 356C from 1963 on display.
