I would like the Porsche designers and engineers to keep producing great vehicles like the Porsche Macan. I'm very happy with mine. Heck, they convinced me to leave Mercedes Benz .

Keep'm coming Porsche. Thank you and have a nice day

1) I would completely overall the AC unit . Everything from the vent placement to the circulation would be improved . The rear unit is deplorable .

2) Wiper speed and water clearance need improvement . This is a characteristic of most German cars . Even though the cars are road tested in various climates I dont feel they do enough to accommodate humid rainy conditions . A summer downpour usually cant clear the rain even at the highest speed . This is not just a Macan issue .

3) Dash cam ought to be standard on all Porsches.

As @MDJAK suggested, ditch the floating rear caliper

Button to turn on surround view instead of multiple finger presses in PCM.

Bring back option to fold side mirrors on lock.

Cell booster in center storage (pretty sure it currently doesn't have it), also design it better for cell storage as that's where the USB plug exists.

One touch rear hatch close from driver seat, why fo I have to keep pressing the button? Probably a stupid 'safety' thing.

Rubber floor option instead of carpet.

Voice control and maps button that works with CarPlay.

Allow setting MFD order.

Sunglass holder (the Volvo style one works).

Button in front to turn on/off rear HVAC.

Sticky memory for Sport/Sport+ button.

Lose a few hundred pounds.

1) Design a secure locking system

The VW group has a drive and entry system that can be defeated in a few seconds and many of their cars stolen within 30 seconds, watch the Press as I expect that it will affect Porsche as well.

The device to gain access can be freely bought for $30 and a new bypass key quickly coded via access to the OBD port

2) upgrade the ECUs on each engine to add an extra 50 bhp to each of them.

3) design inbuilt mudflaps to stop all the road crud from being thrown up onto the bodywork

4) have more controls on the steering wheel

5) increase the range of adjustment of the bolster adjustments of the 18 way seats

6) have manual gearbox mode a proper manual mode with no intervention other than upper rev rev limit where it does not change gear for you

Make Sport the default.
Change Sport button to Sport+.
Sunglass storage (ditch the CD player).

Less is more: basic Macan with tow package, roof rails, infotainment and rearview camera.

I'd have engineering perfect the alignment and latches on the clamshell hood to prevent annoying rattles. Macan still has issues after 3 model years.

Add an upper tray in the deep center console storage.

Change key to push button start (no need to lecture me on Porsche tradition).

Ability to engage sports+ without a button - by simply pulling back on the gear shift (like Audi). This allows you to never take your eyes off the road.

This thread has been most helpful for someone like myself, not a current owner but thinking about buying a Macan as my daily driver. It would be in 2018.

I understand the pluses of Porsche and higher performance cars, but what I wanted to know more about before making a decision is if there are some minuses that I just can’t live with in a dd. I don’t know for sure yet if the pluses outweigh the minuses for me--- and it’s all personal opinion here. I'm not interested in driving a performance dog as my dd, but I also get performance elsewhere in my garage. I need to find the balance between performance and convenience for my dd.

I know from what I have read so far I might have to go with the Alcantara steering wheel option to get the proper feel, and I must learn to live with a few things that I realistically can’t do anything about, such as the size of the steering wheel, possible rattles, sun visors that are too small, pita fog light switch operation, and relatively ugly rear wiper placement.

I’ll keep reading, and figure it out. Thanks for the good info.

@newhorizons

Good idea but better yet, test drive as many Macans as you can for a true read on what these cars really are or not about .
