Default Dashboard Clock spinning when door opens

My Macan S is 3 months old. I just noticed the following happening today. It only happens if the car has been parked for a while. It will not repeat if I try to reproduce immediately after it happens. Here's what happens:

I open the door, doesnt matter if the car was locked or not. I immediately hear a humming and notice the clock dials spinning around. The dials stop at the exact correct time. If I exit the car and close the door and reopen nothing happens. But if the car is parked for a hour or longer, when I open the door the hour dial spins around and stops at the current time of day. I would think I would have noticed this previously if it happened prior to today.
Anyone aware of this happening?

Thanks,
Finner

Thanks jcar. I'm surprised I never noticed it previously.

It's somewhere in the manual I think. The clocks goes in power saving mode or something along those lines. I wish they had put a brighter light in the clock instead of the power saving stuff. It's so dim at night!

Yes, this is known.

Not sure if this is specific to sports chrono, but wait until you start picking up on the slightly louder second tick when it rolls over to the next minute.

Not specific to sports chrono... unless you're speaking directly about the seconds tick on the minute. But now I'm curious and will test on my non sports chrono and see if the volume changes.

Warp speed now! And don't give me
any of that dilithium crystal crap!

Yeah, I was referring to the second tick in my 2nd comment.

Baum,

I hear ya! Totally defective. I see your address is listed as USA. I guess I'll put a lot of miles on it looking for your driveway!
