Default Fog light indicator

Hi All,

I love my 2017 Macan S but I have a small technical question. If I pull the switch to the first click when in low beams, the fog lights turn on but the indicator light doesn't light up. The technical advisor says it's normal!?!

I didn't believe him until I noticed the same thing on the Cayenne S I got as a loaner.

I still think the indicator light should light up. It's clearly indicated in the manual and it does in my 2013 Boxster!

Did the the Porsche engineers lack the budget for the 2017 models? :-)

On my week old GTS, the fog light "on" lamp both on the light switch and on the dash come on. The second pull that turns on the rear fogs turns the indicator on in the dash, but have not been able to see if the indicator on the light switch turns on as well (can't see it when seated normally).

Waited patiently (?) for GTS ordered May 15, September 6 birthday, picked up October 21.

Both lights ( front and rear ) should go on on the switch. Wasn't sure about rear fogs as you cannot check it while driving but I checked that while stationary.

Tested this morning on my 2017 Macan GTS.

Headlights on: Dash indicator on
Headlights and 1-click for front fogs: No additional dash indicator
Headlights and 2-clicks for rear fogs: Second dash indicator lights up

So.......

So..."No additional dash indicator with Headlights and 1-click for front fogs"!

Same here. That's exactly what I wanted to know. For some reason, I thought a second dash light should appear with the first click.

All is well. Many thanks (Merci beaucoup) from Montréal.

How do you put the fog lights on? My Gts cant figure out. Does lights have to be on, and not auto where i usually keep them.

I don't think the fog lights will ever automatically engage. You have to manually turn them on (along with the low beams). Move the light switch all the way clockwise (as far it will go) and pull the switch out.

Unless where you live is foggy all the time, why would you want fog lights to linked to the auto setting?

Thanx for the answer ANNA. Ross moss, you misunderstood what I was trying to say. I didnt say i wanted fog lights on my auto setting, I said I leave mine on auto but thought you can still put fog lights on separately, like previous cars Ive owned.

Just one of those strange decisions by the Porsche engineers. There should be two fog lamp indicators on the dash, one for front - one pull click, and a second indicator on the dash for rear fog lamp - two pull clicks or one extra pull click if the front is already on. Cannot see the rear fog 'on' light when it is illuminated at the light switch because its blocked by the steering wheel.

On the subject of the rear fog lamp, its foolish that there is only one on the driver's side that illuminates (is this a European rule?) Wouldn't two be safer – more visible in foggy conditions? Is there a non wired lamp unit behind the Passenger side dummy lens for other world markets? If so wouldn't it be simple to make it operative?

2015 Macan Turbo.
