Default PEC aftermath surprise (not good!)

Picked up my Macan at ATL in July. Today in Colorado it was COLD, snowy, and generally a mess.

Driving in the mountains I hit the windshield wiper spray and what do you think happens? My windshield instantly turns into a sheet of muddy, sudsy ice, and I can't see a thing. Why did this happen? Because PEC put in summer fluid that was clearly not meant for winter.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to have discovered this the hard way. Others be warned!!!

Lets get this right.

You picked the car up in Summer?

Its now Winter and you have a frozen windscreen.

I fail to see why its the OPCs job to fit winter grade washer fluid in a car supplied during the Summer.

Either P or PEC should know your destination location and fill the washer fluid appropriately. That's not too much to ask. The simplest thing is to use winter fluid for every car.

I use winter fluid year round because it's not that much more, it's way simpler, and I never have remember to empty/flush my washer fluid to change over.

I use winter fluid year round too. I had the same surprise as the OP in my 2014 Cayman S at -30C in Sudbury, Ontario. Car was a fall delivery, but was filled at the factory with summer fluid in late August. Froze in the hoses and in the washer fluid bottle. Had to thaw everything out in a heated Holiday In garage before refilling and continuing on to Minnesota.

I think less solvents spraying onto your clear coat maybe better.

Yeah, I've seen it online, but never in the stores here in New Jersey :-)

Living in Southern California, I didn't know there was such thing as wipers.

Until these last two months

I guess it is a lot colder in Colorado than it is in DC. I took delivery of my Macan GTS at PEC ATL on October 21. I've used the windshield and headlight washer in 14 degree weather with no issues. I too wasn't aware they had summer blend washer fluid.
